More than 350 million US homes have smoke detectors and more than 20 percent of those are non-functional due to missing or dead batteries. To address this, Roost has developed a unique product that can easily and affordably turn any existing smoke detector into a smart one. Packed into the same form factor as the standard 9V battery, the Roost Smart Battery can last for five years and is capable of notifying you of an alarm while you are away, snoozing false alarms from your phone, and detecting a low battery before the chirps begin. Once exhausted, the lithium battery can be detached from the wireless module and replaced, protecting your home for another five years.
